Water Magic {Review & Giveaway}

Water Magic is a pretty neat toy/tool for children who enjoy exploring water and drawing.  It makes me think of a water doodler, except that it is specifically designed for older children.

Water Magic provides a reusable surface in which children can paint their own creations or use the examples provided in the book.  I really like the simple drawings the book offers-24 pages of 12 sets of illustrations.  The first page offers a simplistic drawing and the second provides details and "environment" for the object.

Included are abroad and a finer high-quality paintbrush. I definitely appreciate that!  Properly cared for, these brushes will last for years!

Water Magic is suggested for children ages 4 and up.  Though my son is nearly 4, he did damage the Water Magic board with the metal portion of the paintbrush.  (He pressed too hard and scratched the surface leaving a permanent mark on it.)  In the future, I will allow him to use it with a cotton swab until he can be more gentle.  My 5 year old had a great time copying pictures, though she was a bit impatient for them to dry.  I really appreciated how she was encouraged to draw a simple picture and then challenged to draw a  bit more.  The easel-like design was well-liked, too, once the children realized that the water can drip if too much was used.

I thank Peter Pauper Press for providing us Water Magic, an open-ended option for drawing!  They are also providing one as a giveaway to one reader!  To enter the giveaway, use the Rafflecopter widget through September 2, 2012.   This giveaway is open to US residents ages 18 and over.  Enjoy!
