Ideally I would have used round labels. However, one day I was just so frustrated I pulled out my blank return address labels and wrote all of the spice names on them. I could have typed them, but thought hand-writing them would be significantly easier and faster.
It was. I'm grateful I added the labels even if they aren't as pretty as you will find elsewhere. I choose practical over pretty. These spice labels have worked well for the past month or two for me.
What do you do to find the right spice a bit easier?

This is a great idea Annette! I don't really have this problem so much now as my spices a in a vertical rack so I can see them from the front. At our old house however the where in a lower cabinet on a carousel. It drove me nuts because I had to take them all out to find the one I was looking for each time! Wish I had thought to do this. It would have made things so much easier!
ReplyDeleteExactly, Meredith! I was going crazy!
DeleteI need to relabel some of mine, of course I also have the problem I buy spices in the bulk bin, so sometimes they don't have labels originally.
ReplyDeleteI only buy a couple in bulk. Do you put them in smaller containers or use the big ones?
DeleteA spice rack is on my wishlist when our kitchen gets a little makeover, but right now they're all thrown in a basket(really a box), and I pull it down from the cabinet every time I use spices. :P I understand your frustration, though!
ReplyDeleteBaskets can be handy! My spice collection seems to have grown over the years though...
DeleteI swear I have used every method known to organize my spices! Aren't they a pain? This is an excellent idea. As soon as I can afford to get one, I'm getting an under the cupboard pull-down shelf (did that make sense? lol). Thanks for sharing! ~Stacy
ReplyDeleteYES. Spices are a pain! I know the pull-down spice organizer! I've thought about that, but then I'd have to store some of them in the cupboard...the ones I buy in bulk, I mean.
