Last week I grabbed a handful of books and invited my youngest two children to join me on the loveseat. We read the few board books. The children were eager for more, so I invited them to choose some books. They each brought more books to me to read. We read them. They wanted more...
Then when I stood up to get the camera, they continued to read on their own. I love that my children finally love books. It didn't happen overnight for my youngest two, but it certainly has happened!
Some days the only picture books we read aloud are at bedtime/rest time. Other days, my children request a book or I initiate reading. It is such fun to hear my son want to count the number of books in our read pile!
That day I did not intend to have a book party, but we had fun reading many books, so we can call it that! Book parties are fun for everyone to spice up a regular day without any advanced preparations! Any time we call something a party, it's a bit more fun for the kids! (This is not to be confused with our book themed Little House birthday party!)

Hmmmm...... a book party sounds fun, I might need to do that.
ReplyDeleteThis does sound fun! Right now Grasshopper is my only one that will listen to me read attentively. Firefly does love books, just not so much reading them right now. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to figure out how to do a book party with more people than just us. I haven't come up with a workable plan yet but if you have any ideas, well, feel free to share. :)
